Brickstream Introduces Smart Stereo Video Systems
Atlanta, GA – January 10, 2006
Brickstream, the leader in customer behavior measurement technology, today announced breakthrough technology to improve its data capture capabilities for measuring store conversion rates, traffic counting, check-out queue management, and store layout / design testing. Brickstream also announced the availability of additional new features to reduce the cost and complexity of their award winning suite of products for retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG), and banking.
The new technology is based on stereovision that captures 3D images which enable a broader set of applications and more accuracy than the two dimensional images recorded by traditional monocular cameras. The technology is deployed in new self-contained camera units that combine the stereo image capturing mechanism with Brickstream’s patented BehaviorIQ™ software. These units are not as sensitive to environmental factors such as sunlight or crowded environments. The on-board BehaviorIQ™ analyzes and converts the video into a data stream for real-time analysis and reporting.
The units are less expensive to install and operate than traditional devices. By embedding BehaviorIQ into the device, the total cost of ownership (TCO) is lower because no additional on-site hardware is required for data collection. In addition, installation and maintenance is streamlined because they only require one standard power over Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for expensive and redundant cable for power and data transmission. The units are based on standard open technology, are IP addressable so that retailers can control the units with their existing network management tools, and have built-in monitors to guarantee proper functionality.
“Now we offer Brickstream retail customers a superior method of data collection of their customers’ activity and experience while in the retail outlet. Along with improved capturing capabilities, this advanced technology offers multiple benefits over previous camera and sensor devices” said Steve Jeffery, chief executive officer for Brickstream. “The lower TCO delivers the brick-and-mortar outlets the best quality data to support important business decisions, along with a faster delivery time to give them a competitive edge.”
The smart stereo video systems have been tested by several customers including Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida where the improved features and functionality have been applied towards service level measurement.
“With 70% of actual buying decisions made only after the customer is inside the store, retailers risk missing an opportunity to increase investments that enhance the brick-and-mortar shopping experience and significantly increase conversion rates. Retailers must look beyond supply chain efficiencies and focus on the customer and their store experience as a brand differentiator,” stated Robert Garf in the June 2005 AMR Research Report, “Transform Your Stores: Enhance Customer Interactions with Advanced Selling Technologies.”
In addition to the stereovision capabilities, Brickstream has released updates to the Store Counting Conversion Improvement V1.1 and V1.2 software including enhanced store operations alerting, historical and daily summaries emailed directly to store operations, and user-directed reporting without purchasing additional report tool licenses. These features are available immediately.
